About Us
There's a reason a quiet room feels different.
You've probably felt it — a space that stays calm without trying too hard, where the light falls soft instead of stark. That feeling has a name in Japanese: kasumi (霞), mist. It's where we started.
Kasumi is the soft veil that turns a sharp morning gentle. KasumiHome takes the same idea into the home: lighting and décor that soften hard edges and warm a room without shouting. We design at the intersection of Japanese restraint and Scandinavian warmth — an aesthetic often called Japandi — for people who've stopped chasing trends and just want their home to feel considered.
We're not a heritage workshop, and we won't pretend to be one. KasumiHome is a small, focused studio built around a single idea — quiet light for considered spaces — working with manufacturing partners who share the same respect for materials: real oak, washi-style paper, brass that's allowed to age instead of staying artificially shiny.
What we build around
Most lighting asks to be noticed. We built ours to do the opposite.
A good lamp doesn't perform for you — it just makes the evening a little softer and gets out of the way. That's the whole design brief behind KasumiHome: light that recedes, materials that age well, and a home that feels a little more like yours and a little less like a showroom.
Where we're at
KasumiHome is young — we're building this one considered piece at a time, starting with lighting.
